Reese Hudson meant to destroy mementos from her last failed relationship, not burn down an outhouse and incur the wrath of a sexy park ranger. When the judge rejects her offer to pay for the structure and sentences her to rebuild it—with the hot ranger supervising—she embraces the challenge to take control of her life.

Park ranger Wade Baker wants nothing to do with the rich city girl, no matter how tempting he finds her lush curves. She’s too much like his ex-fiancée, and if he’s learned anything, it’s that women like Reese don’t fit into his world. And he sure as hell wants no part of her big city life.

Reese may not know a hammer from a screwdriver, but she’s working hard to prove she’s not just some pampered princess to be toyed with. And damn it if Wade doesn’t admire her tenacious spirit. If only they got along half as well outside the bedroom as they do in it, there might be a chance for them after all…

EXCERPT

Her legs wrapped around his bare waist, and he treaded water to keep them a oat as his mouth devoured hers.

She tipped her head back, and he laid a hot line of kisses down her throat, his mouth warm against her lake-cooled neck.

The night air was warm, and the lake softly rippled. Moonlight and stars danced across the ripples, and she gazed across the water.

She froze. “Snake.”

Wade laughed. “I guess you could call it that, but I promise it won’t bite.”

Her paralysis broke as she shrieked and splashed toward the boat. “Holy shit! No—a big snake. A real one. On the water.” She grabbed the sides of the boat and tipped it toward her, but she wasn’t strong enough to get herself in.

With a few big strokes, Wade was at the boat and pulled himself up and over the edge. He reached down for her and tugged her up.

She collapsed on the bench seat, shivering. Her shirt and bra floated in the water filling the bottom of the boat.

She pointed at the snake on the water and panic filled her voice. “It’s swimming this way.”

Wade picked up the oar and brandished it at the snake. “Don’t worry. It’s probably just a bull snake.”

“Probably?”

The snake swam up to the oar, and Wade lifted it on the end of the paddle. Reese shrieked as he swung the oar and flung the snake across the water.

He sank onto the bench seat and wrapped an arm around Reese’s bare shoulders. “It’s gone now. You okay?”

She nodded, her teeth chattering, but managed to give him a smile. “You are now of officially my hero.”

He chuckled and puffed out his chest. “You may call me the Snake Slinger.” He picked up the now snake-free oars and with swift, hard strokes, rowed them quickly to the dock. “We can head back to the B and B, or I have a little fishing shack out here. I can build us a fire and see if I can’t find you a shirt.”

She wasn’t ready to go back to her room, not when the night had just been getting good. “A re sounds good.”
He shed her wet shirt and bra off the bottom of the boat and passed them to her with a sheepish grin. “I kind of like this topless fishing idea. I think it could really catch on.” She held the wet shirt across her chest and had to laugh. “That would bring a whole new meaning to the term fly fishing.”

REVIEW
** I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review **

Romancing the Ranger is cute, and enjoyable story, written by Jannie Marts. I think it's a standalone book, because in general there were a few characters, anyway, if it ends being a serie, I'd read the others, because I loved Jannie's writing, I'm adding more of her books to my soon-to-read list; this was a non-stop reading, and even when the book is a short story, the main plot is well ordered, and organized. It's full of funny moments that you just can't stop smiling. Something I liked about was the location in which most of the situations happened. Small town? Nature? Omg, perfect!

Reese's father has been more overprotected since her mother's death, but even when she's already a grown up her father still thinks she's his little girl, this plus her now controlling ex boyfriend become too much, so she does what's the best. Escape from them. And now, Reese is determined in find a man who's not concerned in which mark his car is. When she goes to her grandparents' favorite place she meets a sexy ranger. But the situation is not the best.  Park's life changed when his ex fiancée let him with a considerable amount of debts. So when he meets Reese he thought she's just as his ex fiancée, and the whole first-impression situation doesn't help his thoughts. But all this get better when they start spending more time together, and the sexual tension just becomes more obvious.

I loved Park and Reese's characters, both of them have their bad pasts but future is different. Their relationship was passionated, and sweet. And the hilarious moments just made it better. And even when there were moments I didn't like about Park's reactions or just Reese's way to confront things, I loved it.

Overall, it has drama, I love drama! So yep, a good reading you can't miss.
